Conestoga High School Students AP Test Results Soar

Students averaged 4.08 out of 5 possible points for the entire high school.

Conestoga High School students have again shown their academic prowess as the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District released result from the Advanced Placement exams.

The tests grade on a five-point scale, with a 5 signifying the test taker is "very well prepared" and a 1 representing "no opinion expressed," according to the district. Scores of 3 or above are considered "college ready."

With that being said, the Conestoga High School's average score came in at 4.08, giving the school a "well prepared" score. The national average score was 2.87.

seven hundred seventy-six students took 1,631 AP exams in 29 different subjects, the districts said. Out of that number, 1,516 – 93 percent – test takers scored a 3 or above, giving them a "prepared" rating."

Sixty-four students were recognized as AP scholars, the district said.

Subjects with the highest score averages were calculus, physics, U.S. government and politics, Spanish language and culture, and macro economics, according to the district. World history had the lowest average score, but even that was still rated well with a 3.46 score.

The district reported the highest participation in the following subjects: U.S. government and politics, 157; U.S. history, 150; psychology, 137; environmental science, 126; English language and composition, 119; and world history, 102.

"Conestoga High School's AP test scores are another example of our students' dedication to academic success, achieved with continual support from parents, staff and the community," the district said on the high school's website. "Congratulations to our students on their outstanding performance."

The district also said 63 percent of the graduating senior class took at least one test and scored a 3 or above on the exams.
