STOGA VARSITY FOOTBALL
PIONEERS v OWEN J ROBERTS HIGHLIGHTS
The Varsity Football Team began their season this past Friday night at Owen J. Roberts. The Pioneers played well and fought hard throughout the game, but came up short on the scoreboard. After falling behind in the first half, Stoga traded touchdowns with OJR in the 2nd half. The offense was led by Nick Braendel at quarterback, Milt Robinson at running back and Sean Bailey and Bobby Cantando at receiver. Fullback Ryan Duffy carried the ball for the Pioneer's lone touchdown. The defense played well and maintained intensity until the end with strong play from linebackers Jackson Niness, Tate Kienzle and Matt Dempsey, defensive end Thomas McGovern and cornerback Corey Nowlan. Next up on the Varsity football schedule is an away game at Springfield on Friday night, September 1st.
