Conestoga Pioneers Varsity "Home" Game Victory Over Lower Merion

Stoga defeats Lower Merion 33-20

The unexpected late day location change of the Conestoga Pioneers Varsity football game from the Pioneers' Teamer Field to Harriton High School's field, did not throw off the Pioneers' focus on winning, nor the Pioneers fans' enthusiasm for Black Out Night! Pioneers fans filled Harriton's bleachers last night to watch the Stoga Pioneers Varsity football team defeat the Lower Merion Aces 38 - 20 in the Pioneers' first "Home Game" of the season. The Pioneers’ relentless rushing attack (5 touchdowns and 288 yards on the ground) and stout defense (3 takeaways, 2 quarterback sacks), were the difference makers in the game. Milt Robinson rushed for 155 yards on 14 carries and scored 2 touchdowns, while setting up a 3rd touchdown on a 42 yard run to the Ace's 1 yard line. The touchdown was subsequently scored by QB Nick Braendel (2 rushing touchdowns). Amani Christopher (rushing touchdown) also carried the ball often for the Pioneers. The defense was paced by LB Jackson Niness (numerous tackles, forced fumble), LB Tate Kienzle (tackles, interception), DE Thomas McGovern (sack, fumble recovery, tackles contributing to losses), DB Cory Nowlan (great defense on the wide outs for LM, tackles), DE Tyler Loose (impressive tackle) and the entire defensive line. PK Sam Williams had a perfect night, going 5 for 5 on PATs and 1 for 1 on field goal attempts.
Thank you to Harriton High School Athletic Department for making their field available to the Pioneers as they hosted their first Home Game. The turf issues at Teamer are being addressed and will hopefully be resolved in time for the Pioneers next scheduled home game of September 28th. In the meanwhile, Stoga Varsity’s next game is an away game at Radnor next Saturday night at 7:00pm. Go Stoga!!
