There was a slight question entering this football season about offensive line. Not anymore. Tackles , and D’Angelo Brown, and guards and Matt Herbst and center Eric Javie have aided the Pioneers to a 3-1 start after a 23-0 shutout of under horrid conditions last Friday night.
Knight and Brown are sophomores and Javie is a junior. The rest are seniors. Campbell and Hegg comprised the left side of the line, so this year, Pioneers’ coach split the two up, moving Hegg from left tackle to right tackle, giving Conestoga seniors on either side of the line.
“We wanted to keep an experienced guy on each side,” Vogan said. “Tyler missed the Penncrest game because of an injury, but was making great progress, and we’re getting him back. I also have to say our offensive line coach, Gary Phillips, does a tremendous job. The kids have rallied around him and our offensive line hasn’t missed a beat from last year.

“We replaced a lot of starters from last year and now the offensive line is playing together. It was an experience thing [in the loss] against Garnet Valley. We really came together against Ridley. They’ve been together for six weeks and they’re getting it. Robbie and Geoff are starting to show great leadership on the offensive line.”
Conestoga travels to Springfield this Friday at 7 p.m. in what promises to be a crucial Central League game for both teams.
