The Wayne Art Center is proud to host Daniel Weiss as part of the Home Grown lecture series on January 21, 2015 from 7:30 - 8:30pm.

Remaking College: Challenges and Opportunities in a Time of Change

Daniel H. Weiss, an innovative college administrator and respected leader in liberal arts education, assumed the presidency of Haverford College on July 1, 2013. In 2012 Dan Weiss co-hosted with Rebecca Chopp, former president of Swarthmore College, the conference The Future of the Liberal Arts College in America in order to address a national dialogue around the institutions’ evolving roles. They subsequently co-edited the bookRemaking College: Innovation and the Liberal Arts.

A few of his impressive credentials include his presidency of Lafayette College from 2005-2013, as well as deanship of the School of Arts and Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University. Under his guidance, Lafayette received numerous awards for its commitment to community service and economic revitalization of the community of Easton, Pennsylvania.

Daniel Weiss is a leading voice in contemporary discussions of liberal arts education and will provide provocative insight into the revolution going on in our colleges and universities. As Dr. Weiss himself has said, “There can be no doubt that we are undergoing the most dramatic period of change to our system of higher education that we have experienced in any of our lifetimes.”
