Devon Church Hosts Tredyffrin Police, Local Lawmakers, To Honor MLK

TREDYFFRIN, PA -- The Tredyffrin Township police department, local lawmakers, community leaders, and members of the public were at a Devon church recently to honor Martin Luther King Jr and his legacy.

On Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 12 pm at the Mt. Zion AME Church in Devon, the Tredyffrin Township Police Department attended and took part in a ceremony commemorating King, the township said.

The ceremony was opened by Pastor April M. Martin and members of the AME Church as well as representatives from area churches.

Warren Kampf, Representative of the 157th Legislative District, greeted the attendees and highlighted some of the Martin Luther King Day activities that his office supports.

Superintendent Anthony Giaimo introduced Major Benjamin F. Brooks of the Pennsylvania State Police (ret) who was the inspirational key note speaker for this multi-denominational event supported by the Main Line Ministerial Group.

After retiring from the Pennsylvania State Police, Brooks became an international motivational speaker and has been key note speaker recently for the FBI National Academy Associates and the Chester County Police Chiefs Association.

Following a spiritual and musical service, attendees were welcomed to a luncheon prepared by the AME church members.
