The Tredyffrin-Easttown School District released grief counseling information and other resources in the wake of Tuesday morning’s tragedy.

A 17-year-old Devon boy leapt to his death from a bridge in Berwyn at 7:44 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

Several individuals witnessed the event.

He jumped from the now-defunct rail bridge which the Chester Valley Trail currently runs across, according to police, landing on Valley Forge Road 50 yards south of Swedesford Road.

The district said the boy “was not currently a student in Tredyffrin-Easttown schools,” although they decline to elaborate if he once was.

“Your child may be affected in some way by this death, even if your child did not know the individual,” the school district said. “Discussing thoughts and feelings about death is important in supporting your child.”

The National Association of School Psychologists offers the following tips to parents to help their children cope with such loss.

The boy’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of his family.
