EASTTOWN, PA - Aqua Pennsylvania is slated to begin installing a new iron water main in Easttown this week, prompting limited road access.

The installation of a new 8-inch ductile iron water main on Grubbs Mill Road between Darby Paoli Road and Inverness Lane will start Wednesday until further notice, Easttown officials said in a statement. Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. and access will be provided for emergency, mail and trash service.

Residents will be able to access their properties, but will need to enter from different directions at times due to changing work zones, officials said.

After installation, the new main will be flushed, chlorinated and tested for water quality, officials said. Permanent restoration will take place in the summer of 2023.

“The $326,000 project is part of our continuing infrastructure improvement program that replaced more than 12 miles of aging main in Chester County in 2022 to improve service reliability for customers,” officials said. “The new water main will reduce the potential for main breaks, discolored water and improve water flow in the area.”

Customers will be notified ahead of any planned water service interruptions and 24 hours advance notice will be provided for any scheduled interruption greater than 30 minutes, officials said. Aqua will also have an inspector on the job each day to answer questions.
