Paoli Library presents Homa Sabet Tavangar and Growing Up Global: Tiger Mother Meets Race to Nowhere
With the debate raging in the media over strict Asian-style “Tiger Mothers” versus permissive Western-style parenting, amidst high stress and high expectations, what is the best route for concerned parents to take? Nationally-acclaimed author of Growing Up Global (and T/E mom) Homa Sabet Tavangar considers the pressures on kids to perform and offers an intelligent, practical approach to raise children to be at home in the world. Drawing on wisdom from many world cultures, balanced by universal virtues, and offering tangible resources for time-strapped parents, her approach to raising successful global citizens has been called “refreshing”, “inspiring,” and a “game-changer” by audiences across the nation.
Tavangar is the author of Growing Up Global: Raising Children to Be At Home in the World, hailed by national education and business leaders and media ranging from the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, and Boston Globe to PBS, Parents Magazine, FoxNews.com, and the Huffington Post. Growing Up Global was named a “Best New Parenting Book” by Scholastic magazine, and received the World Academy of Arts, Literature and Media Excellence Award in the category of Social Awareness.
