Expect 'Epic' Water Gun, Water Balloon Fights With Conestoga Students Soon: Police

"An epic battle to outlast each other and be the last Senior standing," is how police describe the annual tradition.

Tredyffrin Township Police want to make sure the public is aware of a tradition at Conestoga High School that will likely start up as the weather gets warm.

Each year, students at the high school play the "Assassin" game, police said. Despite the ominous name, the game is all about getting your friends soaked with water guns and water balloons.

"Because the game involves a certain degree of hiding & lying in wait to surprise other players, every year the TTPD inevitably receive reports of suspicious persons that turn out to be students playing the game," police said on Facebook.

Police said students will stalk and shoot each other with the water guns and balloons in what turns out to be "an epic battle to outlast each other and be the last Senior standing."

"As always, we're working and communicating with the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District to ensure everyone stays safe," police said.

For students, police offer these tips to have fun while staying safe:

  • If someone isn't playing or doesn't want to play, they're off limits. If you're asked or told to stop, it means stop. "Capturing" another player, or otherwise physically touching or blocking them, is not an acceptable part of the game.
  • Don't trespass onto or into other people's property while playing (especially at night) and, if you're asked to leave, do so.
  • Use water pistols that are brightly colored and are clearly toys.
  • Don't play while driving. Or near cars that are. You know what - just stay out of the street.
  • Masks, camouflage, dressing like a ninja - probably all bad ideas.
  • If you see us coming, it's probably because someone called with a concern. Don't run. Don't hide. WE are the true hide and seek champions. Just explain to the Officers what you are doing and cooperate if they ask you to stop.

Police said residents who see something or someone suspicious should not confront the suspicious persons themselves. Instead, they should call 911 and Treydffrin Police will check out the situation.

"Have fun. Be kids," police said on Facebook. "All we ask is that you do it safely and respectfully!"
