First Coronavirus Case Reported In Easttown

Chester County now has 21 cases of the new coronavirus, one of which is now in Easttown Township.

EASTTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Easttown Township has its first reported case of the new coronavirus, according to Chester County.

The county's website on the virus shows a person in the township has the virus.

That person is a 60-year-old woman. How they contracted the virus is unknown.

As of Sunday, Chester County has 21 cases, and 262 tests have come back negative to date.

Neighboring Tredyffrin has no cases. Malvern and Willistown each have one case.

West Chester Borough has the most in the county with four cases.

Data on the county's COVID-19 website is provided by the Chester County Health Department in coordination with the Chester County Department of Emergency Services. Samples positive in state and local laboratories are considered positive with no need for further testing.

Pennsylvania Health officials Sunday said there are 479 cases in 33 counties.

Two people in Pennsylvania have died to date: one person was in Allegheny County and the other in Northampton County.
