Former State Police Major Hosting Diversity, Bias, And Inclusion Workshop At Devon Church

Inherent bias can negatively affect our interactions with others. Major Ben Brooks wants to help you overcome that bias.

A former Pennsylvania State Police major is coming to the Main Line to discuss a sensitive topic that affects all of us on varying degrees.

Major Ben Brooks will hold a discussion on "Diversity, Inclusion, and the Impact of Bias" at 9:15 a.m., Sunday Feb. 5 at Saint Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 203 N. Valley Forge Road, Devon.

"In this adult education forum, Major Ben examines how we interact with each other and how we can overcome negative attitudes that limit performance," the event description read. "Major Ben’s insight and practical techniques have strengthened organizations of all types and helped thousands improve their professional and personal lives."

According to Brooks' website, the course will cover the following topics:

  • How to appreciate Cultural Diversity
  • How the words you use can impact on others
  • The implications of demographics, individuality and organizationality
  • How your behavior is affected by your attitude and stereotyping
  • Cultural do's and don'ts
  • How you can make your interpersonal communication more effective
  • Understanding a diverse workforce
  • How to value and manage a diverse workforce
  • How you can build a cohesive and effective team

The event is free to attend and open to the public. Registration is not required.
