It’s Ears, Not Eyes, That Hunt for Eggs at Royer-Greaves School for Blind
A little technology makes eggs beep and the holiday hunt is on
Paoli, PA...Royer-Greaves School for Blind students and adult clients celebrated Easter this week by hunting around campus for some unusual eggs.
“Since all of the students and most of the adult clients are blind or visually impaired, looking for typical eggs isn’t a good option,” said Royer-Greaves Executive Director Vicky Mayer. “Our eggs beep.”
The hunters use their sense of hearing to hone in on egg location. Like in all good egg hunts, everyone searched as quickly as they could to load up baskets with the prize ovals, which were scattered around the Paoli campus. Students, adult clients, teachers, and aides also enjoyed some treats of the season together.

“Just a little bit of technology allows everyone on campus to enjoy this traditional holiday activity,” Mayer said. “The joy of the hunt was obvious on all the hunter’s faces.”
Royer-Greaves serves students ages 4.5 to 21 who are visually impaired and have cognitive disabilities, and adults 21 and over who have cognitive disabilities and may also be visually impaired. For more information, please visit www.Royer-greaves.org.
