Learn Pennsylvania's Slavery, Freedom History In Berwyn
President of the King of Prussia Historical Society Dave Montalvo will lead the discussion at the Easttown Library this weekend.
BERWYN, PA — Slavery in the United States is a dark and sad time to look back upon. But how did the vile practice of owning humans and the ultimate abolition of slavery play out in Pennsylvania?
Well, you can learn just that this weekend in Berwyn.
Dave Montalvo, president of the King of Prussia Historical Society, will lead a discussion Sunday at the Easttown Library that will address slavery in Pennsylvania.

The discussion will be held at 2 p.m on Sunday, Jan. 19 at the library. It is free to attend.
Montalvo will talk about the major milestones of slavery in Pennsylvania along with facts and figures for Montgomery County will be presented, along with a very brief overview of the local abolition movement and the Underground Railroad.

He will also cover the differences between slavery and indentured servitude.
Montalvo teaches physics at the Upper Merion Area High School, and is the current president of the King of Prussia Historical Society.
The Easttown Library is located at 720 First Ave. in Berwyn.
