THEFTS FROM VEHICLES

April 28 through May 1 – Several thefts from vehicles were reported by residents on the following streets in Wayne: West Valley Road, Warren Road, Thomas Road and General Scott Road. Items stolen included U.S.
currency, wallets, sunglasses, tennis racquets and a purse. Most of the vehicles were left unlocked by the owners with the exception of one that the window was smashed by a rock.

Police urge residents to lock their vehicles at all times, including while parked in your driveways.

These thefts usually increase during the warmer months, so we ask that you be vigilant and report anything suspicious to the police immediately, however small or insignificant.

Oftentimes, residents will later report hearing a noise during the overnight hours, but think it’s nothing, so they don’t call the police.

Those are the times to call! Chances are better of catching the thieves in the act. Examples of suspicious activities may include late night walkers in your neighborhood, unfamiliar vehicles parked on the street, either occupied and/or running idle, random noises that may cause a dog to bark, etc.
