Narcotics Bust / Vehicle Theft / Scams Galore: Tredyffrin Crime Roundup
It's been an interesting week for crime news in Tredyffrin Township.

ARREST
On December 4, 2015, Jerry Dock Long, age 19 was picked up on an arrest warrant in the 300 block of South Valley Forge Road in Devon for drug and theft related offenses. In February of 2015, Tredyffrin Township Police Department initiated a narcotics investigation between the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, Easttown Township Police Department, and the Chester County Municipal Drug Task Force. Long was arraigned by the Honorable Judge Thomas Tartaglio and received $10,000.00 cash bail. Long is presently being held at the Chester county Prison pending his preliminary hearing date scheduled for December 9th in District court 15-1-02.

VEHICLE THEFT
12/4/15 at 0752 hours – 500 block of Hilltop Road in Paoli. The victim reported their vehicle stolen from their driveway sometime during the overnight hours. In the vehicle was the victim’s purse which contained a wallet and miscellaneous items. Credit cards within the wallet had been fraudulently used for purchases. The case is currently under investigation.

HARASSMENT
12/4/15 at 0754 hours – Hedges Lane in Wayne. Daniel Vogel, 50, of Norristown, PA was charged with Harassment following a domestic dispute.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
12/4/15 at 1225 hours – Buckingham Place in Malvern. The victim reported fraudulent activity on their bank account / ATM card. Over $6,500 was withdrawn from their account without their knowledge or approval via their ATM card which was in their possession at all times.
PHONE SCAM/THEFT
12/7/15 at 1125 hours – Rittenhouse Court in Chesterbrook. The elderly victim reported a phone call from a male who identified themselves as their nephew. The caller stated they needed $1,500 for bail money which the victim sent via a MoneyGram money order purchased at a store. After the transaction, the victim realized it was a scam and their nephew was fine and did not require bail money.
***POLICE URGE RESIDENTS TO BEWARE OF THESE TYPES OF SCAMS WHERE THE CALLERS POSE AS RELATIVES IN SOME KIND OF TROUBLE. IN MOST CASES, THE ELDERLY ARE TARGETED. PLEASE VERIFY WITH A CLOSE RELATIVE BEFORE SENDING ANY MONEY TO ANYONE OVER THE PHONE.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
12/7/15 at 1712 hours – 500 block of Hilltop Road in Paoli. The victim reported their vehicle was rummaged through overnight. Stolen from the car was a gas card. The case is under investigation.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

POLICE ENCOURAGE RESIDENTS NOT TO TAPE AN ENVELOPE TO YOUR TRASH CANS, BUT INSTEAD, PERSONALLY THANK YOUR TRASH COLLECTORS AND HAND THEM A GIFT. DO NOT LET THIEVES BE THE RECIPIENTS OF YOUR GENEROUS GIVING.
