The Berwyn Fire Company opened a substation in Devon Monday to better serve its response area, officials said.

DEVON, PA — In an effort to address call response times, the Berwyn Fire Company has opened a substation in the Devon second of Tredyffrin Township.
The substation, located at the Old Forge Crossing Condominiums in Devon, opened Monday, the fire company said.
Fire company officials worked with Old Forge Crossing Condominium Association, the Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors, and the Easttown Township Board of Supervisors to open the substation.

"During the development of a 5-year community driven strategic plan last year, community representatives identified concerns revolving around staffing and response times," the fire company said. "In addition, the Berwyn Fire Company has previously performed analysis with the assistance of the Chester County Department of Emergency Services to identify the optimal locations to place resources to improve response times based on several important factors."
The station is centrally located in the area served by the Berwyn Fire Company, close to the intersection of Valley Forge Road and Swedesford Road, which will be primarily focused on serving the residents and businesses in and around the northern portion of the coverage area in Tredyffrin Township.
