New Tredyffrin Police Superintendent To Be Appointed Next Week

With Superintendent Anthony Giaimo stepping down after years of service, the department will see soon a new leader.

BERWYN, PA – With Tredyffrin Township's Police Department Superintendent Anthony Giaimo stepping down for his retirement, a new superintendent is needed. And Tredyffrin Township officials announced Tuesday that a new superintendent will be named soon.

The township Board of Supervisors are holding s special meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27 to announce the new superintendent.

The meeting will be held at the Tredyffrin Township Building, 1100 Duportail Road, Berwyn.

Giaimo announced his retirement in early February after serving nearly 30 years, with he last five as the superintendent.

In his retirement letter, he said he will be working to ensure a smooth transition of leadership roles withing the department.

He thanked numerous entities, including the township supervisors, township staff and department heads, his officers and police staff, and of course the community he swore to protect.

Some of the highlights Giaimo focused on in his retirement announcement include reducing crime through partnerships in the community, enhanced school safety through real time drills, expanded drug intervention programs to combat the drug epidemic, and enhancing communications with the public among many other achievements.

"In closing," Giaimo's letter reads, "I would like to thank you all and say that Tredyffrin will always have a place in my heart."
