Old Lancaster Road Bridge Now Open In Tredyffrin Township
The road carrying drivers over Amtrak lines in Tredyffrin Township has reopened after a months-long closure, officials said.
TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, PA – Drivers rejoice: PennDOT announced one of Tredyffrin Township's roads is open again after a months-long closure.
PennDOT said the Old Lancaster Road bridge that spans Amtrak track is now open.
The bridge, built in 1957, underwent critical repair work to ensure the bridge could safely be crossed.

PennDOT's contractor removed and replaced the deteriorated reinforced concrete deck and curbs and 12 steel floor beams; replaced the deteriorated concrete barrier wall at the southeast corner of U.S. 30 and Old Lancaster Road; attached new guiderail to the new barrier at the southeast approach to the bridge; and repointed the stone masonry abutments and wingwalls where needed.
The single-span riveted steel beam bridge is 67 feet long and 20 feet wide and carries about 5,600 vehicles a day.
