PennDOT Announces Evening Travel Restrictions for Next Week in Tredyffrin

Roadwork along US-202 between the Chesterbrook and Route 401 interchanges in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland townships starts Monday.

Nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled next week on US-202 between the Chesterbrook and Route 401 interchanges in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland townships, for roadwork, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

PennDOT is in the midst of a project to widen 6.5 miles of US-202 between the Route 252/Swedesford Road Interchange, in Tredyffrin Township, and the U.S. 30 Interchange, in East Whiteland Township, under two construction contracts totaling $168.7 million.

US-202 will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes in both directions between the Route 401 and Chesterbrook interchanges on Monday, July 13, through Thursday, July 16, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and from 10 p.m. Friday, July 17, to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, for pavement joint sealing, overhead sign installation, line painting and noise wall panel installation.

Ongoing construction at the US-202 bridges over Route 401 (Conestoga Road) and Planebrook Road in East Whiteland Township may result in periodic flagger-controlled lane closures on both roadways on Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Intermittent traffic stoppages also may occur during overnight operations.

Periodic lane closures will be in place on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) at the US-202 overpass on Saturday, July 18, from 12:01 a.m. to 10 a.m., and on Planebrook Road at the US-202 overpass on Saturday, July 18, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All activities are weather dependent. Drivers are advised to allow additional time for travel and use extra care when driving through the construction zones.

The US-202 widening effort is being performed by the Richard E. Pierson Construction Company, Inc. of Woodstown, N.J., under a $105.4 million contract. The remaining work on this section of U.S. 202 will be completed this summer.

Construction on US-202 from north of Route 401 to US-30, including work at the Route 401 Interchange, has been awarded to Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester. The $63.3 million contract is scheduled to finish in summer 2016.
