"Picasso v. Matisse" at the Easttown Library

Come learn about one of the most intense rivalries in the history of art

On Tuesday, Sept. 15th at 7 p.m., art collector Fred Dixon will present “Picasso v. Matisse: The Great I-Can-Do-Anything-Better-Than-You Rivalry. ”

The talk with highlight the fascination the artists’ had with each other’s work – a captivation that became almost an obsession with the two giant figures of 20th century art. One of the most intense rivalries in the history of art shows us how competition stimulates growth and flashes of genius.

Speaker Fred Dixon, avid art collector, served as a docent at the Barnes Foundation for ten years. He is the author of 700 Years of Art History: Pre-Renaissance to Modernism. Registration is required.
