Police Warn Of Pickpocketing Attempts At Tredyffrin Shopping Center

Individuals may try to distract shoppers by starting conversations while an accomplice steals their belongings, police said.

TREDYFFRIN, PA — Tredyffrin Police warned the public Tuesday about potential pickpocketers at a local shopping center.

Police say they've received several reports of suspected pickpocketing incidents in the area of Gateway Shopping Center on Swedesford Road.

"Individuals may attempt to distract shoppers by starting conversations while an accomplice targets unattended purses, wallets, or shopping carts," police said.

Police advised people to:

  • never leave shopping carts unattended
  • keep purses zipped and in your possession
  • be cautious of strangers approaching you and creating distractions
  • keep valuables secured and out of easy reach
