"Most of the actors are out of state, third parties who have no intention of buying the item," police said.

Tredyffrin Township Police are warning residents to be wary of possible Craigslist scams.
Around 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 21, a victim reported to police that they had received a check for $1,480 for an item the victim was selling on Craigslist for $300. When the victim took the check to the bank, they were told that it was fraudulent, police said.
Police warn residents selling on Craigslist to beware if they receive a check written out for a larger amount than the selling price of their item.
