Redistricting Plan Causes TE To Lose Democratic Senator

Preliminary plan alters who represents Tredyffrin and Easttown in Harrisburg.

If plans in Harrisburg come to pass, districts for senators would greatly change in Treddyfrin and Easttown, dropping a senator. Following the 2010 Census, state officials analyzed the data and released a preliminary plan for redrawing districts through the state. As it stands, state reps locally would see a minor boundary shift, but senators would have a significant alteration.

Currently, Sens. Edwin Erickson (R-26) and Andrew Dinniman (D-19) represent Tredyffrin and Easttown. As the plan stands now, only the Republican Erickson would cover the area when the dust settles.

Dinniman's district will be drastically different. In addition to losing his territory along Lancaster Avenue in Paoli and Devon and all of Chesterbrook, Dinniman drops most everything north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which stretches to Trappe and Frick's Lock in Montgomery County. His new district would go west and south, and extend to the Maryland border.

Erickson would assume all of Dinniman's vacated territory in Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships.

In the House, it's less of a dramatic shift.

Though Rep. Warren Kampf (R-157) would maintain a large portion of his Tredyffrin and Easttown territory, he stands to lose his western sliver. Kampf's current territory around Tredyffrin Township Park, north past the Pennsylvania Turnpike and south through Paoli, would be lost. Essentially, Valley Road would be his western boundary.

That territory would go to Rep. Duane Milne (R-167). Already Milne serves portions of Devon and Berwyn. The representative would see his local area grow under the proposed plan.
