Robbery, Burglary, Theft Among Latest Tredyffrin Police Update

A hood ornament from a Jaguar vehicle was stolen, police said.

Tredyffrin Township Police released its newest list of crimes in the area Thursday, with thefts, burglary and robbery among the crimes.

The following occurred in the township between Oct. 5 and Oct. 11 according to police.

  • Oct. 5, at 6 p.m., TJ Maxx in Gateway Shopping Center. Edgar Francis White, 49, of Wilmington, Del. was charged with Retail Theft and Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana after he was observed exiting the store with two handbags that weren’t paid for. The bags were valued at $259.98. While in police custody, it was determined that White had an active warrant for a parole violation and was turned over to constables and transported to Chester County Prison.
  • Oct. 6, 2:45 p.m., Einstein Bros Bagels in Paoli Shopping Center. While dining in the restaurant, the victim’s credit card was stolen from her purse. The card had already been fraudulently used before it could be canceled.

Police are urging ladies not to hook purses on the backs of chairs while in restaurants, saying theives can removed the contents in seconds and can leave the scene before the victim notices something was stolen. Police are also telling the public not to leave wallet or purses in shopping carts as theives will distract victims to steal from them.

  • Oct. 6, 11:22 p.m., Sunoco A-plus store on Swedesford Road in Berwyn. It was reported that a white male in his 20’s, wearing a hoodie, jeans and a stocking covering his face entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. If anyone has information, please contact Tredyffrin Detectives at (610) 644-3221
  • Oct. 8, 8:47 p.m., 600 block of Kromer Avenue in Berwyn. A burglary was reported to police. Stolen from the home was several pieces of jewelry and U.S. currency. The case is under investigation.
  • Oct. 9 at 3:31 p.m., North Valley Road in Paoli. A 41 year old male was charged with Public Drunkenness after officers observed him to be highly intoxicated.
  • Oct. 11, 2:37 p.m., Home Properties of Devon. The victim reported their Jaguar hood ornament was stolen during the overnight hours. The ornament is valued between $400 and $500.
  • Oct. 11 at 1:56 p.m., Paoli Luk Oil Station. Tredyffrin Police are investigating the placement of a credit card skimming device located on a gas pump at the Paoli Lukoil. The Police are encouraging users of that station’s pumps to be vigilant of checking their credit card statements and contact the credit companies and police immediately if there are suspicious transactions on the accounts.
  • Emily Principe, 29, of West Chester, who was charged with DUI on Sept. 5 was determined to have a blood alcohol content of .129 percent. A blood test also revealed cocaine, methamphetamine and amphetamine were her system.
