Royer-Greaves School for Blind Invites All to Enjoy “An Afternoon of Artistic Endeavors”
Free April 28 event showcases the musical talents and artwork of students and adult clients

Paoli, PA…Royer-Greaves School for Blind students and adult clients will fill the school gym with music and artwork at this year’s Spring Program: “An Afternoon of Artistic Endeavors.” The event starts at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28, on the school’s 118 South Valley Road Campus. Light refreshments will follow. Please RSVP at 610-644-1810. All are invited and encouraged to attend.
The Florig Hall gym will serve as a gallery for artwork in various media created by students, ages 5.5 to 21, and adult clients, ages 21 and up. The entire space will be filled with music, both recent hits and favorite standards.
Royer-Greaves students and the majority of clients have vision impairments and also intellectual disabilities. Many are non-verbal or have limited ability to express themselves verbally. “Music and art provide a beautiful way for everyone here to express themselves,” said Royer-Greaves Executive Director Vicky Mayer.

Solo performances will allow individual students and clients to shine, said Music Therapist Suzanne Kane, a show organizer. Solo numbers include, “I Believe I Can Fly,” “Rockin’ Robin,” “Call Me Maybe,” “Mama Paquaita, “Send It On,” “La Bamba,” “People Got to Be Free,” and “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” Everyone will be on stage for several group acts: “In the Jungle,” “Frog Went a Courtin’,” “Mama Don’t Allow,” “Shake It Off,” and “Twist and Shout.”
“Through the arts, our students and clients can communicate what they feel with everyone, sighted or vision impaired, with a disability or without,” Mayer said. “This is why all of Royer-Greaves loves to invite the public to our campus to enjoy the music and art that these remarkable people create.”
