Scammers Posing As Fundraisers: Berwyn Fire Co.

Residents have been getting calls about donating to local fire companies. The fire company said not to give information to these callers.

The Berwyn Fire Company is warning residents in the area of a scammers that have been making phone calls asking for donations. The scammers are asking residents to donate to local fire companies.

The fire company said it has received calls recently where residents are asking about the solicitation requests over the phone.

The fire company said it does not solicit donations over the phone and only does so by mail and events.

"Our fundraising efforts come in the form of a direct mail campaign via our annual fire/EMS fund drive, annual Turkey Raffle mailer and through special events," the fire company said. "We depend greatly on the generosity of the residents and business owners in Tredyffrin Township and Easttown Township to run our operations."

The fire company said anyone who receives a call asking for money to support your local fire company should not give out personal information to the callers.

"Our T-E neighbors are encouraged to contact the Tredyffrin Township Police Department or the Easttown Township Police Department if you feel you are being scammed," the fire company said.

Fire officials are coordinating with the Chester County Fire Chiefs Association and law enforcement to determine where the calls are coming from.
