School's Out, Now What?: Cooking Camp

Local three day camp teaches kids how to cook while having fun. There's also an added bonus for busy parents.

As schools let out for the summer, don't panic. If you haven't already made plans there are lots of things for children to do. One could pay dividends for parents long after the summer is over.

Home Cooked in Paoli Village Shoppes still has space in two sessions of its summer cooking camps.  The camp, now in its third year, runs Tuesday-Thursday at the shop, which offers home cooked meals for customers who don't want to cook but who don't want to eat out either.  The session that runs from July 19-21 is for students aged 8-11. The other session with slots still open is for students 11-14 and runs July 26-28th.

Home Cooked owner Claire Phillips created the camp a few years ago with kids and their parents in mind. Students learn more than just cooking. Phillips says the camp also teaches kitchen safety, food handling, and-parents will love this- the importance of kitchen clean up.

The campers aren't the only ones who benefit. Each night students bring home their work: dinner for four.

The camp sessions run three afternoons from two until five. For more information and registration forms click here for a link to the store's website.
