Deadline Extended for Septa Commuter Food Drive

Septa adds more time to donate to Philabundance food drive campaign at Paoli station and 64 other locations.

Septa's commuter food drive to collect canned goods and non-perishable items has been extended to June 24th, according to Septa's website.  Passengers at the Paoli train station can donate items inside the station, next to the Septa Ticket office.

Originally scheduled to run from June 6-20, the "Stop Hunger at Your Station"food drive has now been extended to Friday June 24th.

Commuters throughout Septa's five county service area donated nine tons of food to the 2010 food drive. The goal for this year's drive is ten tons of food. Philabudance works with a network of about 500 food pantries and kitchens as well as providing direct emergency food assistance to those in need.

Septa and Philabundance are asking commuters to drop off canned or shelf stabilized tuna, canned pasta, canned beef ravioli, creamy peanut butter (plastic containers only, please), and jelly (plastic containers only, please) at 65 locations around the Septa system. Items can be dropped off at the Paoli Septa ticket office and at the Bryn Mawr and Overbrook Stations along the Paoli/Thorndale (R5) line.  A complete list of available drop-off locations can be found on the Philabundance website.
