Shusterman Wins Chesco State House Race: Chesco Voter Services
Melissa Shusterman garnered nearly 20 percent more votes than Sarah Marvin, a Republican challenger.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA —State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, a Democratic state representative, won the race for a third, tw0-year term serving the 157th District in Chester County, according to Chester County Voter Services.
Shusterman defeated Republican challenger Sarah Marvin for a state House seat by nearly 20 percent of the 31,853 votes.
All of the 37 precincts in the district have reported the in-person votes and the final results were provided Wednesday afternoon by Chester County Voter Services.

Under a new Pennsylvania redistricting map that is based on the 2020 census, the district covers Tredyffrin, Easttown, Willistown and Schuylkill townships.
The district covers 41.2 square miles and has a population of 62,926.

Shusterman, 55, resides in Schuylkill Township with her husband and son.
“I am gratified by last night's election results, “Shusterman said Wednesday. “I want to thank all the volunteers who worked so hard to re-elect me, especially those in the new area of my district.
“My office and I look forward to meeting our new constituents and being available to assist in any state related issue.”
Shusterman garnered nearly 59.7 percent of the vote, or 19,029 votes. Marvin earned 40.16 percent of the votes, or 12,793 votes.
The vote is set to be certified by the Chester County Board of Elections on Nov. 28.
Shusterman was first elected in 2018, unseating Republican Warren Kampf, who was first elected in 2010.
Shusterman is a 1985 graduate of Conestoga High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College, Easton; and a master’s degrees in history and film and video from American University.
Shusterman is a small business owner. Her hobbies include hiking, reading and gardening.
Shusterman told Patch in September that she supports banning assault weapons.
“As a mother, my heart breaks for the victims and families who have suffered from gun violence. I introduced House Bill 271 which would ban 3D printed guns in Pennsylvania,” Shusterman said.
"I will continue to work for common sense gun laws. I am proud to be endorsed by Moms Demand Action.”
Shusterman also said she will fight every day every day for women to have the right to choose.
“No government has the right to force pregnancy on any woman or child,” she said in a Patch story on announcement to run for re-election.
Marvin is a small business owner who specializes in providing learning support for cyber, homeschool, public and private students and SAT/ACT tutoring.
