TESD Community Joins Hurricane Relief Efforts

Schools have collected supplies and monetary donations for those affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma in Texas and Florida. Well done!

BERWYN, PA – The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District community joined others across the nation in assisting those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma in Florida by collecting supplies and monetary donations.

Tredyffrin/Easttown Middle School and Beaumont, Hillside and New Eagle elementary schools adopted three classrooms in Texas and are sending 30 backpacks full of school supplies to three elementary schools, the district said. Those schools are North Belt Elementary in Humble, Texas; Lamar Elementary in Baytown, Texas; and Tavola Elementary in New Caney, Texas.

At Devon Elementary, fourth grade teachers, students, and families collected close to 50 packages of diapers, 100 packages of wipes and $200 in donations for the Texas Diaper Bank, which will distribute all items to shelters that are housing evacuees and other organizations in need, the district said.

In addition, Devon teachers and the PTO are beginning to collect school supplies and books for Little Cypress Elementary School in Orange, Texas, the district said.

Over at Valley Forge Elementary School, the school raised money for the American Red Cross by participating in "Hats for Harvey," when students wore hats of all shapes and sizes and collected over $1000 for hurricane victims, according to the district.

Valley Forge Middle School students are donating proceeds from their upcoming seventh and eighth grade dance, as well as other student activities, to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, the district said

Lastly, Conestoga High School students previously planned activities to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey, but have since planned to include Florida in their mission to help. Peer Mediators collected money during lunches the first two weeks of school and the Student United Way will be selling coffee, donuts and baked goods at all Fast Flicks games on Saturday, Sept. 23 to raise money for American Red Cross hurricane relief in Texas and Florida, the district said.
