Thefts, Burglary, Fleeing Police Mark Tredyffrin Police Blotter
Police recently reported 61 vehicle burglaries in just eight weeks.

BERWYN, PA – The Tredyffrin Township Police Department released its latest crime update, highlighting police activity in the township from May 14 to May 24.

Police said they have recently received several reports of residents’ personal information being fraudulently used to open or attempt to open credit card accounts. Police urge residents to visit the Federal Trade Commission website to learn more on how to protect identities.

May 14, 12:12 p.m., Route 202 – During a traffic stop, officers detected the odor of unburnt marijuana in the vehicle. Upon searching the car, a large amount of marijuana was seized by officers. The driver, Phuc Ton, 25, of Philadelphia, was subsequently charged with possession of a controlled substance with the Intent to Deliver and Huenghi Ton, 27, of Philadelphia, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia.
FALSE IDENTIFICATION
May 15, 11:57 a.m., Swedesford Road in Berwyn. During a traffic stop, the driver supplied the wrong name to officers due to his driving privileges being suspended/revoked. Will Williams, 38, of Lansdowne, was charged with unsworn falsification to authorities.

ROBBERY/RETAIL THEFT
May 16, 3:42 p.m., TJ Maxx Store in Gateway Shopping Center – Police were dispatched to the report of a retail theft that had just occurred and the actor fled the store after striking an employee in the face. It was also reported that a second actor was still in the store. Upon arrival, Officers were able to detain all of the actors and recovered over $7,300 in stolen merchandise. The actors are: Brice Edwards, 26, of Manchester, Connecticut, charged with retail theft; possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia; Topaze Stinson, 45, of Middletown, Connecticut, charged with retail theft; theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Melquan Perry-Stinson, 26, of Hartford, Connecticut, charged with robbery that inflicted bodily injury; retail theft; theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Perry-Stinson was arraigned before Judge Novak-Donatelli and was taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post $50,000 cash bail.
POSSESSION
May 18, 2:30 p.m., Church Road in Malvern – Daniel Woodward, 54, of Downingtown, was charged with Possession of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia and scattering rubbish after police contacted him regarding illegal dumping.
BURGLARY
May 20, 9:34 p.m., 300 block of Beechwood Road in Wayne – The victim reported that over $2,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from their home. The case is under investigation.
BURGLARY/THEFT FROM VEHICLE
May 20, 10:14 a.m., Sullivan Road in Wayne – The homeowner reported unknown actor(s) entered their garage during the overnight hours and ransacked the unlocked vehicle parked in the garage. Stolen from the vehicle was a purse with contents. The case is under investigation.
POSSESSION
May 21, 1:20 a.m., 5 Fairway Road in Paoli – During a traffic stop,officers charged Patrick Nance, 30, of Paoli, with Possession of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia.
FLEEING FROM POLICE
May 24, 6:50 a.m. – While on patrol, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop with a motorcyclist. The operator continued to accelerate and flee from police, passing a school bus and other motorists on the road at high rates of speed. Officers then terminated the pursuit. The operator, Christopher Scheetz, 38, of Pottstown, was later located by a second officer, and after a short pursuit, was taken into custody and subsequently charged with the following: fleeing or attempting to elude police; disorderly conduct; criminal mischief; recklessly endangering another person; trespass by motor vehicle and multiple vehicle code violations. While attempting to flee from officers, Scheetz caused damage to a homeowner’s yard. Judge Sondergaard set bail at 10 percent of $15,000. Scheetz was unable to post bail and is currently in custody.
