Tredyffrin residents voted on whether to change the township's home rule charter for the first time in half a century. Patch will update the results as they come in. (See results below.)
As one of Pennsylvania's many "home rule" towns, Tredyffrin has a charter that guides the local government's structure and procedures. This election cycle, township residents voted on whether to change the charter for the first time since 1976, when it was first instituted.

The ballot question asked residents to vote "yes" or "no" on making 40 amendments to the charter.
If passed, the township government would carry the same overall structure. But many policies would be revised to incorporate modern technology, institute gender-neutral language, and eliminate older regulations that have changed in the decades since they were first written.

It would also speed up the process for approving the township's annual budget, reducing required public notices. Additionally, Tredyffrin's Board of Supervisors would no longer have to vote on whether to "introduce" the final budget. But the supervisors would still hold public hearings and vote publicly on whether to advance the preliminary budget and adopt the final budget.
Here's the tally on Tredyffrin Township's Home Rule Charter referendum. The results are unofficial until certified on a later date.
