Tredyffrin Considers Services Barter with PennDot

The Township is willing to barter serves on an hour by hour basis.

In an effort to improve roadwork response times in emergency situations, the Board of Supervisors voted to move forward with a possible hourly trade agreement for services with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation during the monthly meeting held at the on Monday, July 18.

During storm situations, PennDOT’s response times are often longer than desired. In order to help expedite services like tree removal on state roads, the Township would be willing to barter serves on an hour by hour basis.

“We are in no way shape or form taking over tree removal,” said Supervisor Michelle Kichline. “If PennDot is in the area and can respond appropriately, we will follow protocol.

Protocols require that PennDot is the first to be called, but in the event of its untimely arrival, the Township Public Works Department would be called to handle the situation.

The barter agreement would allow for more flexibility within the current processes without actually costing the Township anything additional.
