Tredyffrin Cop Graduates From Elite Motorcycle Training Program

Congratulations, good luck, and stay safe while serving the community, Ofc. Rich Gasparo!

BERWYN, PA –A Tredyffrin Township Police Department officer recently graduated from an extensive motorcycle highway patrol program, giving him even more skills to keep township residents safe.

Officer Rich Gasparo, who fellow officers endearingly call "CHiPS," graduated from the Philadelphia Police Department Highway Patrol Motorcycle Training Program Friday, Tredyffrin Police said.

According to Tredyffrin Police, Gasparo will patrol the Chester Valley Trail system, schools, parks and other areas of Tredyffrin Township not easily reached by normal police vehicles using the new skills he learned in the extensive and elite program.

Gasparo had to to complete 80 hours of training in the program, including slow motorcycle control courses, emergency braking, tandem riding, vehicle stops and escort duties.

Traffic Sgt. Tim Brown and Patrol Lt. Joe Glatts presented Gasparo his highway patrol "wings" after Friday's ceremony, police said.

"Very few Officers earn the right to wear them and join the brotherhood of 'Motor' patrol," the department said.
