Tredyffrin-Easttown School Teacher Honored With Fellowship
Congratulations to Conestoga's own Tricia Ebarvia!

TREDYFFRIN, PA -- Tricia Ebarvia, an English teacher at the Conestoga High School in Berwyn, was announced as one of 11 leading educators who has been awarded a place as a 2016 Heinemann Fellow, Heinemann announced in a press release.
Heinemann, a division of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, has selected this accomplished group from a host of highly qualified candidates and each member will use their fellowship to engage in individual research projects that address a challenged shared by schools across the country, according to the release.
Ebarvia has spent the last 15 years as a classroom educator with a student-driven approach to teaching reading and writing. She is also the co-director and teacher-consultant with the Pennsylvania Reading and Literature Project. Over her career, Ebarvia says she has applied the philosophy of the teacher-as-researcher while applying best practices to cultivate independent learners through independent reading and student choice. She’s also been a thought leader in developing interactive digital methods to support her student’s learning.

“I always search for new ways to approach the material I teach. The greatest pleasures of teaching are the opportunities to collaborate with others," Ebarvia said.
As part of the two year Heinemann Fellowship program, members will also have the opportunity to enhance their own schools and communities through collegial interaction with other fellows. The group will meet regularly through their fellowships to share findings and feedback. Together, they will refine data gathering, inform further research plans, and help interpret results. Their work will then be shared through Heinemann’s various publication channels.
