Tredyffrin Police Activity From 8/8 to 8/15: Fraud, Mailbox Destruction, Possession

TREDYFFRIN, PA -- The following is a record of police activity in Tredyffrin Township from August 8 through August 15. All information has been provided by the Tredyffrin Township Police Department.

• SCAMS

There have been numerous phone scams targeting senior citizens recently. Callers stating they are from the IRS or claiming to be a relative in need of bail money or legal fees. HANG UP – These are scams. Government or Law Enforcement agencies will never request payment via money orders, MONEYGRAM, MONEYPACK, GREEN DOT or POP MONEY.

• PHONE SCAM

8/10/16 at 1215 hours – Main Street in Chesterbrook. The victim reported they were scammed by a caller claiming to be from PPL Electric Company who stated the victim owed money for past bills. The caller instructed the victim to purchase “MoneyPack” gift cards and provide the pin number, in which they did. The victim realized it was a scam afterwards and called the police.

• POSSESSION

8/8/16 at 0215 hours – Devon Park Drive in Wayne. Khaleem Taylor, 22, of Philadelphia, PA was charged with Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana during a traffic stop.

• UNAUTHORIZED USE OF VEHICLE

8/2/16 at 0720 hours – 100 block of Hanover Court in Chesterbrook. William Reid Quinn, 48, of Wayne, PA was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle after he took a vehicle without permission.

• CREDIT CARD FRAUD

8/9/16 at 1310 hours – 700 block of Strawbridge Lane in Wayne. The victim reported their credit card was compromised and fraudulent transactions had been made on the card. The case is under investigation.

• CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

8/9/16 at 2050 hours – Princeton Road in Wayne. It was reported that multiple mailboxes were damaged during the overnight hours by actor(s) unknown.

• ASSAULT

8/11/16 at 0108 hours – Paoli Wawa. Brian Reason, 51, of Havertown, PA was charged with Terroristic Threats; Simple Assault; Harassment and Disorderly Conduct after he was involved in an altercation.

• PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS

8/12/16 at 0524 hours – Keller Road in Berwyn. John Franklin Miller, 20, of Wayne, PA was charged with Loitering & Prowling at Night; Underage Drinking; Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct.
