TREDYFFRIN, PA -- You may be familiar with the fake IRS caller scam. That’s not the only one that’s hit the area recently.

Residents are urged to hang up immediately, as these are always scams. Government or law enforcement agencies will never request payment via money orders, Moneygram, Green Dot, or Pop Money.
A second type of scam circulating is a pop-up on your computer screen stating “Tech Support is needed,” and lists a phone number.

When calling the number, the “tech support” agent says that a virus is on the computer and a software package is needed to clear it. There is a fee for the program. These are scams as well, police said.
If you are unsure, contact your computer manufacturer or bring it to a reputable company that will diagnose issues.
