Tredyffrin Police Warning Residents Of iPhone 'Trick'

No matter what anyone says, don't say this to Siri on your iPhone.

Treyffrin Township Police said Monday on Facebook that a "trick" on iPhones has been circulating the internet and warn residents not to try it.

Police said iPhone users with the "Siri" voice command program are being tricked into calling 911 through the Siri function.

"You may have recently seen something circulating on social media encouraging you to say 'Hey Siri, 108' into your phone," police said on Facebook. "Yea...please don't do that."

Police said "108" is the same as 911 in India and Siri will then call 911 if you say "108" to it.

And to all the skeptics out there, don't try it.

"Chester County Department of Emergency Services just dispatched our officers to a residence in the Wayne section of Tredyffrin Township for a 9-1-1 hang-up after the teen resident wanted to see if it worked," police said Monday night. "It did."

PC Magazine says Siri waits about five seconds before making an emergency call, but people still are trying to snare others into the "108" trap.
