Tredyffrin Townhip Police Superintendent Announces Retirement
Superintendent Anthony Giaimo is leaving the department after nearly 30 years of service.
Treydffrin Township Police Superintendent Anthony Giaimo announced Wednesday that he will be retiring this year after serving nearly 30 years and as the superintendent for five years.
Giaimo announced his retirement in a letter that reflects on his time with the department, highlights over his tenure, and his plans for the transition of power.
"As 2017 is my retirement year," Giaimo said, "I am announcing that I will be in fact retiring this year."

Giaimo said in the coming months he will be working to ensure a smooth transition of leadership roles withing the department.
He thanked numerous entities, including the township supervisors, township staff and department heads, his officers and police staff, and of course the community he swore to protect.

Some of the highlights Giaimo focused on in his retirement announcement include reducing crime through partnerships in the community, enhanced school safety through real time drills, expanded drug intervention programs to combat the drug epidemic, and enhancing communications with the public among many other achievements.
"In closing," Giaimo's letter reads, "I would like to thank you all and say that Tredyffrin will always have a place in my heart."
