Tredyffrin Township Police Appoint New Officers

The Tredyffrin Township Police Department provided the following biographies of the new officers:

• Patrol Officer Stephen Galletta is a 2004 graduate of West Chester East H.S., a 2008 graduate of West Chester University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice as well as a 2009 graduate of the Delaware Co. Police Academy. Stephen, who previously worked in law enforcement, is a certified DUI instructor and trains in the martial arts. He is married and has a baby daughter.
• Patrol Officer Eric M. Meoli is a 2013 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a 2014 graduate of the Montgomery Co. Police Academy. Meoli, who previously worked in law enforcement is also the son of Officer Lawrence Meoli, who retired after serving 28 years with this police department. Eric trains in the martial arts, enjoys team sports such as rugby and is a competition pistol shooter.
• Patrol Officer Joshua Smethers is a 2005 graduate of Great Valley H.S., a 2009 graduate of Juniata College with a B.S. in Environmental Science and a 2012 graduate of the Delaware Co. Police Academy. Joshua was employed in the private sector as a laboratory technician with Intepod. Joshua, an Eagle Scout, is married and is an avid rock climber, bicyclist and scuba diver.

“I want to thank the Board of Supervisors for their continued support, especially with the staffing of the police department,” Superintendent Anthony Giaimo said. “Additionally, I congratulate the new officers and their families for their achievements and appointment to our agency. Our departmental mission is to provide the best service possible to our great community and these new officers will surely continue that legacy.”

The officers were sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Analisa Sondergaard.
