Berwyn Synagogue's Friday Night Speaker Series Welcomes Israel's Deputy Consul General March 4
Berwyn, PA -- Congregation Or Shalom’s Friday Night Speakers Series continues on March 4 with an Update on Israel and the Middle East by Moran Birman, Mid-Atlantic Region Deputy Consul General to the Consulate General of Israel. The series is free, open to the public and begins after Friday night services at the Berwyn synagogue.
Mr. Moran Birman became Deputy Consul General to the Consulate General of Israel to the Mid-Atlantic Region in August, 2015. The Consulate is located in Philadelphia and serves the Mid-Atlantic Region which includes: Pennsylvania, Delaware, Southern New Jersey, Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.
In 2014 he enrolled in the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Diplomatic Training Program and upon completing his diplomatic training, joined the North America division of the Ministry, working in the Consulates department.

Before taking up his posting, Mr. Birman practiced law, litigating antitrust, regulation and communication cases. He also volunteered his time providing legal assistance to the Ethiopian immigrant community in Yokne’am, Israel.
Mr. Birman graduated from Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2011, with an LL.B., Faculty of Law degree and is also a qualified legal mediator.

Mr. Birman is native to Shaar Hagolan, a kibbutz in northern Israel. He is married to Dana, who is also a lawyer and an LL.M. candidate at Drexel University. He served 3 years in the Israeli Air Force.
