Valley Forge Military Academy Alum Tapped As Trump's National Security Advisor, Reports Say

Army Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster Jr is a Philly native and Valley Forge Military Academy graduate.

A Philadelphia native and Valley Forge Military Academy alum is going on to serve his country in another capacity after years of military service.

Army Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster Jr. has been tapped by President Donald Trump's administration as the top national security advisor as Michael Flynn left the administration, according to reports.

McMaster graduated from the Main Line military school in 1980 and is a combat veteran.

According to 6ABC, McMaster led nine M1 Abrams tanks through an Iraqi brigade destroying over 80Republican Guard tanks and vehicles without any losses in the Gulf War in 1991.

Trump said McMaster is "a man of tremendous talent and tremendous experience" in his announcing McMaster's appointment Monday, according to the Philly Voice.

McMaster grew up in Roxborough before attending the Main Line military school. He then went on to graduate from West Point, according to Philly.com.

"We are very proud of H.R. McMaster's distinguished career in the defense of our nation," Col. John C. Church Jr., president of Valley Forge Military Academy and College, told Philly.com.
