Veteran Wreath Laying Ceremony Set For Saturday In Strafford

The Jeptha Abbott Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, of Ardmore, is hosting a Wreaths Across America event Saturday.

STRAFFORD, PA — A local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is hosting its second annual Wreaths Across America event this weekend in Strafford.

Ardmore-based Jeptha Abbott Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host the event at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Old Eagle Cemetery in Strafford.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The event will feature a wreath laying ceremony representing each branch of the service — Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Merchant Marines, Coast Guard, and prisoners of war.

Additionally, the Pennsylvania Society Sons of the Revolution Color Guard will be participating, and there will be someone playing taps.

There will also be individual wreath- laying.

Apple cider, coffee, and cookies will be served.

Parking is at the Strafford train station.

The organization Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 2,100 locations across the United States, at sea, and abroad each December on National Wreaths Across America Day.

Old Eagle Cemetery is located at 175 Old Eagle School Road in Wayne.
