Aqua PA will be installing new water mains on two roads in Tredyffrin and Easttown starting Oct. 21 with work lasting until December.

TREDYFFRIN-EASTTOWN, PA — Work to replace water mains in Tredyffrin and Easttown townships is slated to begin Oct. 21 and last until at least December, according to Aqua Pennsylvania.

Aqua PA will replace the existing 6-inch cast iron water main within Easttown and Tredyffrin as part of our continuing infrastructure improvement program.

Work will be done on South Valley Forge Road between Lancaster Avenue and Berkley Road and on Surrey Way between Berkley Road and end of parking lot.

The trench for gas main installation will be covered with temporary black top at the end of each work day. Permanent restoration will be complete in the winter of 2019.

Construction on the $275,000 project is scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 21 with completion expected in December.

The new 8-inch ductile iron water main will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area.

Aqua will have an inspector on the job each day to answer questions.

After the mains are installed, the main will be chlorinated and tested before being put into service. After testing, Aqua will transfer each water service and any fire hydrants onto the new main, then make the final connections on the side streets and abandon the old main.

Aqua will notify customers 24 hours in advance of any scheduled shutdown, however, as with any construction project, an emergency shutdown might be necessary.

Contact Construction Superintendent Jim Roser at (610) 430-0747 with any questions and if an emergency comes up contact Aqua's Customer Service Department or emergency dispatcher at (877) 987-2782.
