Baseball: Carber's Complete Game Paves Way for UD
Andrew Carber's strong performance on the hill helped the Cardinals extend their wining streak to four games.
A windy Tuesday afternoon game proved to be just what the doctor ordered for the Flying Cardinals baseball team. The 2-1 victory over the Upper Merion Vikings carried the Cardinals out of the cellar and improved their record to 5-8.
The Cardinals mustered just a single hit off of Viking pitcher Justin Cunnae, but the team managed to pull out the win capitalizing on a combination of walks, hit batsmen and errors.
The Cardinals scored first in the third inning when left-fielder Andrew Yekel slid safely home after Viking catcher Alex Clarke failed to catch a throw from the second baseman. Cardinal shortstop Luke Felix scored the winning run off an Ethan Gregg sacrifice-fly in the fifth inning.

Sophomore Andrew Carber proved to be the difference, as he pitched a complete game (seven innings), yielding just seven hits and two walks, while striking out five. His lone blemish came in the fourth inning when Viking second baseman Brian Desch drove in Ray Gambone on a ground-out to the short-stop. Carber improved his record to 3-0 on the season and leads the team in wins.
