Cardinal Sports Wrap for Sept. 16: Soccer Coach Schmidt Wins 100th
A winning week continues for the Cardinal and Gray, as the soccer team and field hockey team both roll over Norristown.

Soccer
Rick Schmidt achieved a milestone Thursday afternoon, as his Upper Dublin Cardinals won him his 100th victory as head coach of the varsity boys soccer team. The 5-0 shutout of the Norristown Eagles put his team at 3-1-1 overall (2-1 SOL American).
Brian Schaefer opened the scoring in the second minute, and was closely followed by a Jared D’Andrea strike in the seventh minute.
Zach Arnold had a 51st-minute goal, but yet again, Dan Demchick ultimately stole the show. Demchick scored his first goal directly from a corner kick, literally bending it like Beckham from the right corner in the 61st minute. Demchick followed up with his second goal of the game in the 69th minute.

Scott Wexler made two saves to record another shutout for the Cards.
Field Hockey
Upper Dublin’s field hockey team doesn’t seem to have a problem finding ways to win. The team's 4-2 victory against Norristown leaves the team unbeaten and at the top of the SOL American Conference (5-0, 4-0 SOL American).
Sam Boyd was the star of the game, as her hat trick propelled the Cards to the win. Marie Wheatley had the other tally, while Emily Hitchings had two assists.
