Check out the Upper Dublin Community Aquatic Program
If you would like to switch up your exercise routine once in awhile, the Upper Dublin Community Aquatic program might be the perfect match for you!

For years I have watched my father hobble around with a great deal of pain due to osteoarthritis in his knees. Because he was unable to move around very well, he started to gain weight which added to his list of health problems. He used to run track and play football back in the day, but years of wear and tear just tore up the cartilage in his knees until he was left with bone grinding pain. I always bugged him about starting a swimming program; swimming offers people an aerobic workout without the impact of walking or running, but my father never had a swimming pool to go to that was close enough or affordable for him. With the advent of the Upper Dublin Aquatic center, he may no longer have an excuse.
The newly renovated high school offers aquatic exercise programs for Upper Dublin residents of all ages, as well as open swim sessions for those who want to follow their own exercise routine at the facility. There swim lessons available for children and adults, water aerobics classes for adults, lifeguarding courses, water safety courses and First Aid/AED certification classes for lifeguards. Daily gate fees for UD residents are $5 per day for adults and $4 per day for children. Seasonal passes are also offered for residents and non-residents wishing to use the pool on a more regular basis. The aquatic facility is located in the Upper Dublin High School athletic facility on 800 Loch Alsh Ave. in Fort Washington. Once in the building, guests must enter and exit the pool through the appropriate locker rooms; upon entering the pool area, guests are required to sign in with the instructor or supervisor on duty. Towels and other personal shower supplies are not provided by the Pool facility, so guests must bring their own and secure their belongings in the lockers provided (it is recommended that each person bring their own lock as well, all lockers must be emptied at the end of the session).
If you are looking to do something a little different for your workout routine, or you just want to have an occasional swim once in awhile, the Upper Dublin Aquatic Facility is a perfect place to start. It is close, family friendly and affordable and there is no need to purchase an expensive gym membership. Check out the school website for more information! http://www.udsd.org/page.cfm?p=566
