DISTRICT'S CONTEMPORARY A CAPPELLA GROUP SELECTED TO PERFORM AT SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
Upper Dublin High School's VOX Takes the Stage Oct. 14, 2015
Upper Dublin High School’s contemporary a cappella group, VOX, will perform at the prestigious Student Celebration Showcase, a feature event at the 2015 PASA-PSBA School Leadership Conference, which will be held in Hershey, Penn. VOX is one of only seven acts to be selected for the honor. The group will entertain more than 500 Pennsylvania school board members and administrators when it takes the stage on Oct. 14, 2015, at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center’s Chocolate Ballroom.
Under the direction of Choral Director Nathaniel F. Arnold, VOX sings a variety of contemporary a cappella music. Members of the mixed group are also members of the Upper Dublin High School Choir and audition to perform with VOX. Composed of approximately 20 ninth-through-twelfth-grade students, the co-ed ensemble employs beatboxing to mimic rhythms using only their voices.
This summer, PASA-PSBA launched a statewide search for exceptional groups or individuals from Pennsylvania school districts to dazzle the audience at the organization’s annual meeting. Applications from district dance teams, jazz bands, orchestras and glee clubs were submitted but only seven student acts were accepted. Each act will perform for 10 minutes as part of a celebration of public school students.
