EASTERN Recognizes 122 Students at 2013 Awards Night
This marked the first year for the newly established Ron Eberz Memorial Award.

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Awards Night was held May 29 at Upper Moreland High School. This year, 122 students were recognized for their achievements, with $35,000 awarded in the form of scholarships, tools of the trade, plaques, certificates and checks. Awards Night recognizes students who are on the Honor Roll, Students of the Month through the year, medal winners at SkillsUSA District and State Competitions, winners of special end-of-year awards, and those who have Perfect Attendance.
Student awards are provided by the EASTERN Foundation, and supported by businesses, various community organizations, and individual donors. The purpose of EASTERN's Foundation is to recognize EASTERN student achievement and success by assisting both students whose goal is post-secondary education and students who intend to start a rewarding career. Our business and industry partners inspired this effort and continue to support it extensively.
This marked the first year for the newly established Ron Eberz Memorial Award. Ron Eberz was a 1966 EASTERN Automotive Technology graduate who suddenly passed away on June 23, 2012. His family is keeping his name and memory alive through a new annual EASTERN student award for students moving on to post-secondary education. The family interviewed three finalists for this year’s award, and felt as though all three EASTERN candidates were outstanding, and was unable to choose just one. On Awards Night, Stacey Condeelis, Ron Eberz’s daughter, presented the awards to John O’Riordan, an Abington High School Senior in the Construction Technology Program; Marian Wiggins, an Abington High School Senior in the Cosmetology Program; and Zachary Woerner, an Abington High School Senior in the Automotive Technology Program.
